Obituary of George W. Wagner
George W. Wagner 81, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Church Hill, TN to the late Noah and Oma Wagner. After serving during the Korean War, he and his wife June moved to the Washington D.C. area where he successfully owned and operated multiple businesses. Upon his retirement they returned home to Tennessee.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, Noah, Sam, and Glen Wagner; sister, Gaye Strong.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, June Wagner; son, Billy Wagner; daughters, Gwen Mullins and husband John, and Cindy Stevens; grandsons, Shane Mullins, Brandon Mullins, and Keith Stevens; brothers, Leroy and Earl Wagner; special nephew, Lester Strong; along with several nieces and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown Kingsport. A funeral service will follow in the chapel with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating.
A military committal service will be conducted at 10:45 am on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with the honors conducted by American Legion Hammond Post #3/265. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:40am.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Bouchis and her team for the care and compassion they have shown the Wagner family.
