Obituary of Cora Roberts

Cora Virginia Culbertson Roberts went home into the loving arms of her Savior on October 21, 2013 after a short illness. She was the most wonderful mother, sister and friend. Born in Scott County, VA, she resided most of her life in Kingsport, Tenn. She graduated in 1946 from Shoemaker High School in Gate City, Va. and worked at Tennessee Eastman Company until 1958, when she left to raise her family. Always a kind and gentle person she loved the outdoors, fishing, all animals and her family. She loved to cook and everyone loved her butterscotch pies and divinity candy. Cora was a lifelong member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, where she taught children's Sunday school for more than 30 years. She was known as one of everyone's favorite Sunday school teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents Ed & Mary Kate Jones Culbertson; three sisters, Vina Grey, Mabel Gray, and Dola Lunsford Ferguson; and four brothers: Charles Culbertson, J.M. Culbertson, C.D. Culbertson, and Paul Culbertson. She is survived by her children, Dennis Roberts & wife Robin, Missoula, Mont., Randall (Randy) Roberts & wife Teresa, Delinda Ward & husband Jim, Kingsport, and Keith Roberts & wife Kalonn, Bluff City, TN; grandchildren, Jolene Nelson, Vancouver, Wash., Amanda McMillan, Missoula, Dustin Chaffin, Joshua Ward, and Victoria Ward of Kingsport; great-grandchildren, Caden Burckhard, and Olivia McMillan, Missoula; sisters, Edith Cody, Church Hill, TN, and Ruth Lovelace, Weber City, VA. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 145 Shipp Springs Road in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7:30 pm with Pastor David Peters officiating with remarks provided by Brother Jonathan Peters and Pastor Jonathan Lovelace. Music will be provided by the Lighthouse Praise Team. Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Those attending are asked to meet by 10:15 am at the funeral home to go in procession. Barry Lunsford, Trevor Lunsford, Connor Lovelace, Mark Lovelace, Bryan Mulkey, Jared Bredehoeft, Michael Manis, Cory Godsey, and Aaron Miller will serve as pallbearers.
