Obituary of Effie Mae Lawson
Church Hill - Effie Mae Caldwell Lawson, 89 of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, February 14, 2014 at her residence following a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Elmer Lawson; son, Douglas Lawson; brother, J. C. Caldwell; sisters, Clora Ward and Willie Marsh; parents, Floyd and Beulah (Cole) Caldwell.
Effie is survived by her daughters, Patsy Christian (June) and Lesa Malone (Dale); sons, Jerry Lawson (Anna), Michael Lawson (Barbara), Danny Lawson (Debbie); 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janie Rimer, Helen Spears, Irene Hawkins, Virginia Fields and Linda Sloan; brother-in-law, Joe Marsh; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill, TN. Friends may also call anytime at the residence.
A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dennis Spears officiating.
Burial will follow at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregiver, Wilma Greer, Wellmont Hospice and special neighbor, Maxine Hurd.
