Patricia Christian

Obituary of Patricia Ann Christian

After 76 full of life years, Pat Christian went home to be with her sweet Jesus. She was a faithful and dependable sister, loving aunt, honorable nanny, dedicated teacher, and loyal friend. You may have known her by “Trish,” “Nanny,” “Ms. Patsy,” or “Pat” for she filled many roles. Trish was the oldest sister of 4 siblings where she remained the rock and confident for each of them. She was also a safeguard for her 2 nephews who she adored. She had yet another very important role of being called “Nanny,” by her 2 nieces, one of which she referred to as her “sunshine.” This was a role that she took much pride in as she helped guide them both through life. Many children know her by “Ms. Patsy,” due to her serving 46 years as a teacher in the Head Start program. This was more than just a “job” for her, it was a lifestyle and passion that fulfilled her. Her legacy will forever remain in the lives of the children she touched. She was a friend to many who saw her as a giver but never a taker. In her 76 years, she never seemed to meet a stranger. She loved everyone just as Christ does and tried to shine his light through her to everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Edith Byrd; beloved husband, Cricket Christian; brother-in-law, Rick Hensley, and several aunts.

She is survived by her siblings, Deb Hensley, Pam (Sam) Quillen, and Jim (Cathy, whom she loved as a true sister) Byrd; nieces, Nikki and Keeli Byrd; nephews, Josh (Tabitha) Quillen and Caleb Quillen (fiancé Jamie Henderson;) great nieces, Railey and Gracie Quillen; special friend, Jessie Bain; and her cat: Ms. Puss.
