Obituary of Traci Ronee Proffit

Traci Ronee Proffit, 52, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 11, 2021. She was born March 22, 1969, in Rogersville, TN to Patricia Harbin Elkins. She was of the Baptist faith.  

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in passing by her stepfather, Earl Cameron, and her grandparents.  

In her spare time, Traci enjoyed crafting and knitting. She kept photo albums. Enjoyed beach trips and when her health allowed, she loved to skate. Traci loved children and devoted much of her time to taking care of not only her son, but others’ children as well. Prior to her illness she worked for the Department of Children’s Services in Sevier County, TN from 1991 to 1997 and later worked for the Child Development Center in Hickson, TN. She also worked in the church nursery when she was able to attend.  

She is survived by her loving husband, Randal “Randy” Proffit; son, Ryan Proffit; sister, Stephanie Gladson; and sister-in-law and late brother-in-law, Debra and John Buchanan of Rydal, GA. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also remain to carry on her memory.  

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the Eastman Recreation Area at Bays Mountain, 406 Bays Mountain Park, Kingsport, TN 37660, from 10:00am-2:00pm. Those family and friends wishing to attend are asked to R.S.V.P. to Randy Proffit, as a meal will be served.  

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
