Obituary of Shelby Jean Manis

Shelby Jean Manis, age 84, of Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 20, 2021. She attended McFerrin United Methodist Church in Goshen Valley. Shelby was a friend to all who knew her. She was known for her loving soul and the way she cared for others before herself. Shelby believed in showing the love of God to everyone she ever met. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed tending to the ways of her home and caring for her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Kenneth “Pete” Manis; parents, Johnny and Ella Manis; 2 brothers, J.L. Manis and Billy Manis; and 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Brooks (Bill) and Anita Reams (Jimmy).

She is survived by her 2 faithful and loving daughters, Ella Louise Burke (David Parks) and Linda Craft (Johnny); 2 grandchildren, Josh Light and Lindsey Burke-Rodriguez (Reggie); great-granddaughter, Mia Rodriguez-Burke; brothers, James Manis, Darrell Manis (Sherelene) and Sammy Manis (Suzanne); sisters, Barbara Arnold (Doug), Sharon Mallory, Brenda Porter (Bob) and Carolyn Manis; sisters -in-law, Kitty and Ann Manis; best friend, Joyce Gray; several nieces, nephews and extended family.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 24, 2021 at McPheeter’s Bend Cemetery with Pastor Regina Shelton officiating. All those wishing to go in procession are asked to meet at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill at 12:00 pm.

All those attending the service will be required to wear a facial covering to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. In addition the family asks that no visitors or food be brought to the home during these uncertain times. In lieu of food and flowers, the family asks that you in return offer your prayers and memorial contributions to McFerrin United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank Erica Brooks, Charlotte Booker and Rondi Hilton, for their love and care for Shelby Jean.
