Obituary of H. Fred Booher
H. Fred Booher, 89, of Kingsport passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Hospice House in Bristol. Fred worked for United Telephone Company for 15 years and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He then went to work for Holston Defense and retired in 1991. Following his retirement he worked at Food City on Eastman Rd. until 2018. For many years Fred could be seen volunteering at Fun Fest and Girls Inc. in Kingsport. Fred was a member of Morrison City Christian Church.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nora Booher; brothers, Edward and John Haskle Booher; sisters, Dorothy Smithson and Kathleen Meredith; daughter-in-law, Kathy Booher; granddaughter-in-law, Samantha Booher.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Bonnie Booher; sons, A. Louis Booher of Ohio and Daniel Joseph Booher and wife Cynthia of Alaska; grandchildren, Samuel Booher, Tiffany Thompson and husband David, Angela Booher, and Joshua Booher; step-grandchildren, Andy Miller and Bridgett Williams and husband Preston; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great grandchild; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Minister Bob Underwood officiating.
A military graveside will be conducted at 10am on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with honors conducted by American Legion Post #3/265. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50am.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Saha, Dr. McQueen, and the staff of the Hospice House for their loving care.
