I’m so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort help you during this difficult time. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4 & Psalms 83:18). Jesus prayed for God’s Kingdom to come because He knew it would be able to solve all mankind’s problems even death. (Revelation 21:4,5 & Daniel 2:44).

I mourn as I sit here and read this memorial, because I recognized Steve immediately. I met Steve several years ago (circa 2011) when I attended advanced SRO training in Pigeon Forge, TN. Steve was 1 of 2 Sullivan County deputies in attendance at the same class. I was the only out of state officer in attendance, so Steve and his partner took me under their wings and showed me some true southern hospitality for the entire week. That memory will always stay with me.
To Steve's family, and his brothers and sisters at the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, I send you my most heartfelt condolences. I know that we are all losing too many of our brothers in this fallen world. We have lost 2 in central Missouri just within the last year. Although I didn't know him well, please know that Steve will always have a place in my heart and I won't ever forget him. I send my love to you all, and pray that the love of God will be with you.

Celebration Church has for many years hired off-duty Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies to provide traffic control and security for our weekend services. Officer Steve Hinkle has served us regularly and faithfully for a long time. He has been a comforting presence for our congregation. Steve especially liked visiting with our nursery workers when making rounds through the building. Undoubtedly, he had a special love for children. We are deeply saddened by his passing, and we will sorely miss him at Celebration.
We are thankful Steve knew the Lord and is now experiencing perfection with Jesus. Our prayers are for his family, coworkers, and friends. We trust the Lord will bring comfort and peace despite the hardship of this situation. Yet, we do not grieve without hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13). Steve’s hope, and ours, is in Christ. Therefore, we can rest in the assurance we will see one another again!

I will always remember Officer Hinkle for making me feel safe when I would work at BMS selling programs for the Dobyns-Bennett Quarterback Club. My booth was located next to the Yellow Bridge where Officer Hinkle was stationed. I always knew I was safe whenever it was my time to "man" the booth. We always made sure he was included in our meals and shared the "shady" spot under our tent. He would graciously decline, but no wasn't an option to make sure he got a hot meal and a cold bottle of water. When I think of BMS, Officer Hinkle automatically pops into my head. Memories of those times always brings a smile to my face and my heart. Officer Hinkle you will truly be missed.
