Obituary of Linda Sturgill Smith

LINDA  STURGILL  SMITH

Gate City-  Linda Sturgill Smith, 75, of Gate City, went to be with her Lord early Wednesday morning (September 26, 2018).  Linda loved farming and gardening and was an avid reader.  She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren.  Mrs. Smith was a loving and devoted wife for 56 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Ruth Sturgill; parents-in-law, Cecil and Ruth Smith.

Linda Smith is survived by her loving husband, James Smith; her daughter, Lucretia Guia and husband, Chris; three grandchildren, Abby, Dalton, and Cooper; her dog, “Mollie”,  as well as several loving family members and friends.

A visitation will take place on Saturday (September 29, 2018) from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Scott County Funeral Home.  A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with a graveside service to follow at Holston View Cemetery.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.  A celebratory reception in her memory will take place at Mariott Meadowview Convention Center in Kingsport following the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions to be made to the organization that was dear to her heart, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, 38105.
