Obituary of Billy Lee Byrd

Mr. Billy Lee Byrd, 80, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019, in the Indian Path Hospital.  

Billy was a native of Fries, Virginia. He was the son of the late Clifford and Gladys Lowe Bryd.

Billy was a US Navy veteran. He was a Pastor with United Methodist Conference for fifty three years. The last three years he volunteered as a Pastor at Shades of Grace. Billy loved the Lord, his family, the church and helping those in need.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Lee Byrd; one great granddaughter, Gracie Byrd. 

Survivors include his wife Belle Byrd; one daughter, Roxanne Byrd; two step sons, Toby Sells and Billy Sells; three brothers, Ronald Byrd and his wife Carolyn, Kirt Byrd and Jimbo Byrd; four grandchildren, Ashley Wilson, Jared Byrd, Shane Cloud and Seth Byrd; two great grandchildren, London Byrd and Lincoln Byrd; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

The family of Mr. Billy Lee Byrd will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm Sunday, December 15, 2019, in the Scott County Funeral Home/ Weber City. The funeral service will follow at 1 pm with Pastor Will Shewy and Pastor Estelle Williams officiating. Music will be provided by Oscar Harris, Billy Sells and Judy Chase. The graveside committal service will follow in the East Tennessee Cemetery, Blountville. American Legion Hammond Post # 3/265 will accord a short military honors. Active pallbearers will be Jared Byrd, Shane Cloud, Billy Sells, Toby Sells, Matthew Cash and Terry Lark. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Langford, Pal Kidd and Jimmy Rodgers
