My Uncle Kelly was one of the greatest men that I had the privilege of knowing.
I always felt like I had a name to live up to, literally, as I was named after him. Uncle Kelly was a very influential part of my father's life, so much so, that he felt he needed to name his only child after him. Kelly felt proud that I was chosen to carry his name on. He also liked that our birthdays were only one day apart. Kelly would always write in my birthday cards he would give me "To: Allainah Kelly Easterling From: Kelly Easterling." My mother actually changed the spelling of my middle name to Kelley, to be more feminine, however, Kelly would not ever spell it that way, and would only spell it to match his. He said that was the "right way."
Kelly would always make me the very best strawberry shortcake for my birthday, as it was my favorite. I always look forward to that, when I was younger.
Kelly had such a happy spirit. He would always laugh and joke around, and always seemed to light up the room. I truly enjoyed going to visit with him. We always found something to laugh about.
I am honored to be able to carry on Kelly's name.
I will truly miss my Uncle Kelly.
May you rest in peace, Uncle Kelly.
Until we meet again...
